Visiting a church can be like going on a blind-date--there's great potential, but there are also lots of unknowns. We hope the information below (and a free Espresso!) will minimize the unknowns for your first visit to Bethel. So, here's what you need to know:
There's plenty of it, but it goes fast. We tell our regulars to park away from the building to leave spots open for you.
You'll be greeted warmly by some morning-people. Don't worry, we're not all morning-people, they just make the best door-greeters. Right inside the front doors is our information booth. Feel free to ask any question you want of folks at the information booth. We've only been stumped once, so you're likely to receive a helpful answer.
You can participate in our services in two different venues. All venues offer the same teaching
Venue #1: Live! - The Live! venue offers the chance to worship God with about 1000 other people. The music is contemporary and upbeat. The Live! venue occurs at 9 and 11 am (think repeat presentation, not double-feature). Early arrivals get the best choice of seats. About 15 minutes into the service, we close the lower doors to minimize distractions. You can still get a seat in the balcony, though.
Venue #2: Wired - The Wired venue is a smaller, more intimate setting for worshipping God. The atmosphere is relaxed and food is offered (donations accepted). The music is louder and more driven and video of the teaching pastor is beamed from the Live! venue to a large screen in Wired. The Wired venue is only offered at 9am.
Our services begin promptly and usually last for 75 minutes. We sing for 20-30 minutes. After that, you can expect a bald guy (we call him Pastor Dave) to teach from the Bible for the remainder of the time, which is roughly equal to watching an episode of LOST on DVD. Dave is a great communicator and works hard to make his talks engaging by including drama, music, and video clips. You won't be bored. You will be challenged.
Childcare is offered during both the 9a and 11a services for babies in the nursery. Kids in preschool through fifth grade will enjoy fun, interactive Bible-based instruction in the Discover Zone (turn left after you walk in). They even have their own easy-to-find welcome booth with people who can point you and your kids in the right direction. Kids' safety is of utmost concern to us so all workers are trained by us and cleared through the Washington State Patrol. We even use gloves and sanitizer to ensure a safe and clean environment.
Middle school students (6th-8th grades) meet in the Fellowship Hall (walk in front-doors, head down right hallway) during the 11am service. The main High School meeting is Sunday evenings (it's called Intersect), but the heart of the high school community is in Life Transformation Groups.
You don't have to be in college to gather with us. If you're out of high school and under 23, we welcome you! Check out our webpage for our latest meeting information.
You were wondering when we were goint to get to this, weren't you? We offer all our first-time guests a free espresso drink from our Espresso Cafe. In addition to getting a free drink, you can also meet the pastor in the Espresso cafe after the service.
If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to call us (509-628-0150) or email us. We'd love to hear from you and we want you to feel welcome. We look forward to seeing you!
