AMAZING STORIES, please read to the end!
Thanks for your prayers!
Today is Monday and we all made it. But the stories are abounding in how God moved in the final parts of our trip.
Some of you may have read that many pilots appeared to participate in a ‘sick-in’. Because of this, flights out of Haiti the 2-3 days before ours were cancelled. Over 200 extra people were at the airport HOPING to grab up 1 or 2 extra seats each day. The room with the ticket counter has limited space, and certainly not space for 200 extra people anxious to make a flight. Getting into the airport was like getting out of a rock concert with 1 door and limited crowd control. It was intense. As we look back, we see that if the sick in lasted 1 more day, we would have been 23 of those 200-300 people hoping to grab an extra seat on a plane. We could have been there an extra 10 days if that was the case! God was so gracious!
Upon arriving in Newark, we had 45 minutes to get through customs and to our next flight. We made it with 30 seconds to spare! However, the pilot, because of the sick-in, was another 45 minutes late. Again, God was gracious.
My favorite story of our return trip is when we got back to Seattle. We sent Nathan Croskey out quickly to get our cars out of the parking lot. He met us at the hotel, so he was not able to make sure we had his suitcase. We didn’t. So, after a long day of travel, at about midnight, he had to go back to the airport. He rode on a large shuttle alone with the driver. He didn’t care about anything in the bag except a machete and a creol bible. His bag was at the airport, and as he rode back he found out that the driver SPOKE CREOL AND HAD NO BIBLE! Nathan, without hesitation, handed him the Bible. It is so much fun to serve a sovereign God, isn’t it?
