The team just made it in time for their connecting flight and are on their way to Seattle!
From Seth:
Gospel clearly shared 3 times today! It was a great day, and a great way to finish off the VBS week. We cannot believe we are coming home tomorrow!
Hi All, The Wi-Fi is down, so I just got a quick text from Seth today, here is what he says…
Quick prayer. We are working with the local church to communicate the gospel twice today at VBS…pray, pray, PRAY!
Hello again-
John 12 reminds us that if we lift Christ up, he will bring people to himself. I am not sure all that God is doing, but I know that we are asking the Spirit to give us wisdom and strength to lift Jesus up! Keep praying in that way.
As for the haps yesterday…
Yesterday’s day at VBS was the best yet. I have been trying to work as closely with Pastor Eddy, who shepherds the church there, so that they are successful, and not us. He is very slow to warm. But yesterday he followed us on to our bus and told us how thankful he was to have us there.
The rest of the day consisted of painting and other random tasks like brake jobs and fixing broken legs. The students and leaders are doing great and we are processing things well every night.
For prayer…
9 How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest,
11 and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.
We want to be rich in our Kingdom mindset. We want to finish this week strong. We want to deliver the riches of the King with faithful servant hearts! Pray to that end.
For His glory,
seth
Good morning.
I woke up this morning to a group singing in creole ‘if ever I loved thee, my Jesus is now.’ What a great way to start the day!
Yesterday was an amazing day. We, again, went to the village for VBS. I am always wondering about the value of VBS as a missions trip. I am learning more and more the value and how to watch God make it more valuable. Yesterday as I was being led by a mix of interpreters and our team I cried in my heart thanksgiving as I saw the Body of Christ working together. This is a powerful message to the church we served this week. The team did amazing yesterday…it was a GREAT second day. With the improving connection with the translators, we are finding a stride. We had so much fun yesterday sharing God’s greatness.
Part of this trip is finding other things to do. Two leaders have found themselves dirty on a few car projects. A group of students helped a lady who’s voodoo worshiping husband just died. She has 6 of the sweetest kids. Another group had the opportunity to help finish the house of one of the translators who lost his son in the quake. All efforts have been excitedly done. It has been so great to be a part of a team that just gets after it.
How to pray?
1. Long days, short nights, EARLY mornings…we are tired, which is where God needs us to be so we get out of the way.
2. Emotional heart strings are pulled a million directions. That is good, but we need God’s perspective.
3. Continued guidance in the relationship with the church we are serving. We want the local church, not the group who leaves, to be the most successful.
Thanks friends.
Seth
Also, here’s a text from Lori Taylor who was part of the group who helped the widow with the six kids, here is what she says:
“Having and amazing trip!! Taking lots o pics…can’t wait to show you! Kids are doing extremely well. We moved a woman out of her stick hut yesterday w/ her 6 kids onto HCM (Haitian Christian Mission) compound. Her hubby died 3 weeks ago. She had been surrounded by voodoo…she is safe in this place now. PRAISE GOD!!!!!”
Hi All, I just heard from Seth, here’s what he says…
We are starting to stir for day number #2 of VBS. We travel 90min to our VBS destination…depending upon how many cows are in the road and what not. We have been blessed to go to a thriving church where God’s truth is being communicated. This church that we serve at has been sending out medical teams of it’s own. When we arrived, the children sang to welcome us. They even sang a song in English to us! We are blessed to be able to be a part of what God is doing there. Overall Day #1 was a success…we hope…but we are struggling through the language barrier. The interpreters are FANTASTIC, so that helps and gives us some peace. So, continue to pray for the ability for the love of Christ and His gospel to be communicated through that barrier.
Continue to pray for the health of the team. It is a nagging element of the trip for some. Again, nothing to be concerned with, but something that does hinder people’s ability to go all in.
Pray for continued growth of team chemistry and flexibility. We are always learning and growing together.
May Christ be raised up so that he can bring people to Himself.
For His glory,
Seth
We were asked to take on another VBS on the HCM campus! This is exciting, but pray for our energy level.
Thank God for how He is breaking hearts for His work down here. It is exciting to see.
We were and are regularly refreshed by the constant worship of God’s people here. We certainly aren’t bringing God…but joining his great work.
Edwins was installed this past week as director. This is an amazing time for HCM, but I am sure the transition can be difficult. Pray for him as the new director. He asked specifically that prayer would be directed toward spiritual attacks that can destroy God’s movement.
Thanks. As an aside, I am getting regular opportunities to check email, so parents can send encouragement that way, too.

Here’s what I hear from Seth:
We made it! Everyone and every bag. Spirits high, community building. Mike Tvedt and HCM welcomed us at the airport. Humidity is a little different. Thanks 4 prayers.
The team is on their way! They left this afternoon from Bethel at about 3p and after a stop for dinner in North Bend will be on their way to SeaTac to fly all night and end up in Haiti tomorrow afternoon! They were all ready to go and so excited to see what the Lord will do.
