What is it?
Mark Gungor’s Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage weekend seminar is formatted to DVD for small group use. His speaking style is similar to that of a stand-up comedian. We’ve watched couples laugh out loud as Mark explores the underlying dynamics of male/female relationships and his practical solutions to common relationship woes. Some of Mark’s topics include: Men’s Brains/Women’s Brains, Sex, Money and Communicating.
Who is this material for?
All ages and stages of marriage will relate to Mark’s straightforward insights. We have seen Mark’s comedic, non-threatening style draw in husbands who otherwise aren’t comfortable in a “marriage enhancement” focus. We even use portions of this material for pre-marriage counseling.
What’s the time commitment?
The seminar is broken up into a twelve-week study. Each week, groups watch 3 to 4 video clips that are each followed by group discussion.
Positive Feedback:
We have seen hundreds of couples go through this material and they always say, “We could have used this years ago!”. The material makes it easy to make immediate positive changes in relationships. The straightforward information on sex is some of the best we’ve heard! We are excited for couples to gain a much needed understanding and perspective on the present world’s effects on us and our marriages. Mark also speaks frankly about pornography.
Are there any challenges about this material?
There is one place where the leader may need to put Mark’s content in perspective. In the clip discussing “bartering” the advice may be a fun application for strong mature couples who understand the intent, but could be stumbling block to more immature couples. We suggest that the leaders preview Session 6, Clip 15 and decide to guide discussion or to simply omit that clip.
The material on sex is great. There are a few clips that may be more comfortably viewed by splitting men and women up. We suggest the leaders preview these sections and make their decision depending on the dynamics of their small group.
